Galati Tehnopol Association participated between February 29 and March 1 at the launch conference of the Urban heat islands resilience, preparedness and mitigation strategy / Urban heat islands resilience, preparedness and mitigation strategy Be Ready project financed by the Interreg Danube Region program.
The project has 21 partners from 12 countries and the project budget is 2,396,337 euros, of which the EU contribution is 1,917,070 euros. Galati Tehnopol Association and Galati City Hall are partners in the project.
The overall objective of the project is to increase the capacities of local and regional authorities, civic actors to plan, mitigate and manage adaptation to climate and natural disasters and more specifically urban heat islands, thus creating the ground for future territorial development and investment and for the development international policy (EUSDR, EU) of climate adaptation.
The main outputs of the project include jointly developed and implemented methodologies and toolkits for UHI risk assessment, data analysis and city-level modelling; co-designed solutions for the UHI approach, tested and revised in the urban environment of 9 pilot cities; a joint strategy for improving climate change preparedness and resilience targeting local and regional authorities in the Danube region; action plans and transformative strategic perspectives for participating partners; policy recommendations; awareness campaigns in 12 countries
